An equipment sticker does two jobs: it puts your name on the unit so the next call comes back to you, and it carries the record the tech after you needs.

If you handle refrigerant, EPA Section 608 recordkeeping runs on the appliance ID, refrigerant type, full charge and leak-rate history, and those records must be kept for three years. From January 1, 2026 the charge threshold that triggers leak-rate tracking dropped from 50 lbs to 15 lbs, which pulls a lot of smaller equipment into scope. Tagging the unit with its appliance ID and refrigerant type makes that paperwork far easier to keep straight — tell us the fields you track and we'll lay them out.

Most HVAC service tags land between 2 and 4 inches — readable at arm's length on a cabinet, small enough to sit on a flat panel without bridging a seam.
