Send the best original you have, in any of these formats: AI, SVG, EPS, PDF, PNG, JPG, JPEG, TIF, PS, and PSD, plus ZIP if you want to send several files at once. Word (DOC, DOCX) and PowerPoint (PPT, PPTX) files are fine too; see sending Word, PowerPoint, or Google files. We don't take Sketch files, so export an SVG or a PDF from Sketch instead.
What each one is good for
| Format | Kind | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| AI, EPS | Vector | Logos and illustration from a designer. Prints sharp at any size. |
| SVG | Vector | The same, and common from web tools. |
| Either | Excellent when exported from vector software. Less so when it's a photo in a wrapper. | |
| PNG | Raster | The everyday choice. Keeps a transparent background, which is ideal for a custom shape. |
| JPG | Raster | Fine for photographic designs. Can't hold transparency, so it always has a background. |
| TIF, PSD | Raster | Large, high quality, and often layered. Good originals. |
One design per file
Send each design as its own file, and don't combine several designs in one multi-page PDF. If a PDF has several pages, we use page one, or the upload may be refused. The exception is trade stickers, where a multi-page PDF is fine for sharing your branding assets. Ordering several designs at once? See ordering multiple designs.
Transparency matters more than format
If you want a sticker cut to the shape of your design rather than to a square, we need to know where the design ends. A PNG with a transparent background tells us that right away, and it's the most helpful thing you can send.
A JPG can't be transparent, so it always has a white or colored rectangle behind it. We can usually take a plain background off for you, and your proof shows the result, but a file that arrives transparent is one less thing to get wrong. See transparent backgrounds.
Send the original, not a copy
Files lose quality every time they pass through something that compresses them again. A logo that has been texted, posted in a group chat, and downloaded again can be a fraction of its original size, with rough edges.
If you have the file a designer sent you, send that one, even if it's an AI file you can't open yourself. We open it in Illustrator and work from your file.
If your file is too big
The uploader takes files up to 25MB. Above that, use the "Artwork over 25MB? Send a link instead" option on the product page, and give us a Dropbox, Google Drive, or WeTransfer link. Large layered PSDs and print-ready PDFs often go past 25MB, and that's fine: we download the file from your link instead.
What we don't need
- A cut line drawn in the file. We draw it around your artwork. If you've drawn one, we use it, but you don't have to. See sending your own cut line.
- Bleed added by hand, in most cases. See bleed and safe area for when it matters.
- A particular color mode. Send RGB or CMYK. On stickers and sheet labels, we keep whichever you send. For roll labels, we convert an RGB file to CMYK. See RGB or CMYK.
