Window Cling has no adhesive. It holds on by static against smooth glass, so it peels off and goes back up as many times as you like without leaving anything behind. It comes in White or Clear.
What it's good at
- Anything that changes: opening hours, seasonal promotions, and temporary notices. Put it up, take it down, and keep it for next year.
- Rentals. There's nothing to remove and nothing to explain to a landlord.
- Being moved. Try it in one spot, decide it reads better a foot higher, and move it.
- The inside of the glass, facing out through a shop window, where it's protected from weather and hands. Tell us whether it goes on the inside facing out or on the outside, and we set the artwork up the right way around.
What it's not good at
- Anything that isn't glass. Window Cling is made for smooth glass, so painted, textured, and rough surfaces, like brick and stucco, aren't for it.
- The outside of the glass, on the weather side. Wind and rain will work at an edge until it comes away. Inside the glass, facing out, is the right place.
- Anywhere it must not be removed. Because it's easy for you to take down, it's easy for anyone else to take down.
Putting one up
- Clean the glass well and let it dry. A cling holds by contact, and it can't make contact through a film of grime.
- Place one edge, then smooth across with a hand or a squeegee to push the air out.
- If you trap a bubble, lift the nearest edge and lay it down again. Unlike a sticker, a cling can be lifted and laid again as often as you need.
Storing one
Store it flat, with its backing sheet, out of the sun. A cling that's rolled or folded takes a set and never quite lies flat again.
Size it for the distance
Clings are usually read from across a sidewalk or a shop floor, not at arm's length, so they need to be larger than instinct suggests. Measure the pane, and check your size from across the room before you order.
When you want a sticker instead
If it needs to be permanent, go outside on the weather side, or stick to anything other than smooth glass, you want a sticker. Clear Stickers give a similar see-through look with real adhesive behind them; see choosing a material.
For a permanent design inside the glass, facing out, we also make reverse-printed stickers with the adhesive on the front. Their product page is coming, so contact us for those, and see putting stickers on glass and windows.
Ordering
The minimum is 25 of a design, and Window Cling ships 3 to 5 business days after you approve your proof. Rush is available for a fee. On White Window Cling, you can also see an optional "Live Sticker Proof" before you order: upload one design, then press "Draw It Now" in the "See Instant Sticker Proof" box.
