Yes, when the design suits it. Choose "No Border" as the border color, and the cut follows the edge of your artwork instead of standing off it. So that no sliver of bare vinyl shows at the edge, we carry your outermost colors 0.06" past the cut line. That extra is called bleed, and it means the blade lands in color.
What the artwork needs
No Border on a die-cut sticker is at our discretion, and the artwork needs two things:
- An outside stroke at least 0.065" thick around the whole design, so the cut lands in a solid edge.
- One main shape with no sharp corners. Separate pieces, thin points, and sharp corners don't hold up without a border.
If your design doesn't meet both, your proof shows the sticker with a border, and a note explaining why.
What works without a border
Printing and cutting are separate steps, and the cut can land a hair off the print. A border hides that. Without one, the edge of your design has to look right even if a sliver is trimmed from one side. Why a border can look uneven explains the shift.
Designs that suit No Border:
- Solid shapes with a clear edge, like a round badge, a logo on a colored shape, or a bold silhouette.
- Designs with a thick outline, where a slightly thinner edge on one side won't show.
- Photos and artwork filling a circle, square, or rectangle.
Designs that look better with a border:
- A thin outline at the edge. Any shift in the cut makes a hairline frame look uneven.
- Text or detail near the edge. Keep anything that must not be trimmed at least 0.09" inside the edge, as bleed and safe area explains.
- Fine spikes and wisps, like hair, fur, or splatter. The cut is smoothed so a blade can follow it, which rounds off tiny points.
- Separate pieces, like lettering with gaps between the letters. A die-cut sticker has to be one piece, so something has to join them: a border, or a background shape in your design.
- Soft edges, glows, and shadows, which fade out with no clear edge to cut along.
If you're unsure, a Thin border (0.065") is the middle ground: the sticker stays close to your design with a small margin for the cut. Sticker border options compares the widths.
No border on a shape
On Circle, Oval, Square, and Rectangle stickers, the shape is the cut. The same rules apply: color runs past the cut, and anything important stays inside the safe area. Choosing a sticker shape compares the shapes.
On White and High-Tack vinyl, you can try this yourself in the optional "Live Sticker Proof". After you upload one design, press "Draw It Now" in the "See Instant Sticker Proof" box. Then:
- slide "Border" to "None" to bring the artwork right to the edge;
- slide it into "Crop" to let the shape trim into the artwork;
- choose "Fill" to run the artwork past the edge of the shape.
Check the edge on your proof
On your proof, look along the edge for text, thin lines, or a pale halo left from a removed background. In the "Live Sticker Proof", "Show Finished Sticker" shows the sticker without the cut line, as it will look in your hand. Transparent backgrounds explains the halo.
