How to see what's inside a sticker

The "See What's Inside" panel shows a sticker built layer by layer. Pick a material, a finish, and a white ink choice, then take it apart to see where each layer sits and what it does.

The panel below builds a sticker the way we make one, layer by layer. Pick a material, a finish, and a white ink choice, and it rebuilds to match. Press "Take It Apart" to spread the layers out and read what each one does, and "Put It Together" to see the finished sticker.

1. Pick a material

The swatches along the top are the materials: White, High-Tack, Clear, Holographic, Glitter, and Chrome. The name of the one you've picked shows beside them.

Each material changes the stack. High-Tack swaps in its stronger adhesive. Clear, Holographic, Glitter, and Chrome add a white ink layer under the print, because on those films color is see-through unless white sits behind it.

2. Choose gloss or matte

The finish is the laminate on top. Put together, the sticker catches the light as you move your pointer over it: a bright, sharp shine on Gloss, and a soft, frosted sheen on Matte. See gloss or matte.

3. Choose where the white goes

On Clear, Holographic, Glitter, and Chrome, a row of four choices appears. They are the same four you'll see under "White Ink Backing" on the product page:

Choice What it does
None No white ink. Colors go on see-through: darker ones block more of the material, lighter ones let more of it show, and white in your artwork prints as no ink.
Full Base White under your whole design, so every color reads solid.
Partial Base White under the colored areas only, so the white parts of your artwork show the material.
Select Areas White only where you ask for it. Tell us where in the note box, or let us decide what works best.

Click through them and watch the sticker change. It's the quickest way to see why the choice matters. Where should white ink go? covers how to decide.

4. Take it apart

"Take It Apart" spreads the sticker into its layers, front to back, with each one's name at the side:

  • Laminate on top, gloss or matte, against scratches and fading.
  • Laminate adhesive, which bonds the laminate to the print.
  • Ink, your artwork.
  • White ink, on the films that take it, in the shape your white ink choice gives it.
  • The material: white vinyl, clear, holographic, glitter, or chrome.
  • Adhesive, the standard one or High-Tack's stronger grip.
  • Backing liner, which every sticker peels off.

Point at a layer, or at its name, to lift it out and read what it does. On a phone, tap it.

Seeing your own design

This panel shows Huey, our mascot, so the layers are easy to compare. To see your own artwork on White or High-Tack vinyl, use the optional Live Sticker Proof on a sticker product page:

  1. Choose your options and upload one design.
  2. Press "Draw It Now" in the "See Instant Sticker Proof" box under the upload.
  3. In the Live Sticker Proof, press "Show Layers" to take your own design apart the same way.

Neither view can show how a film moves in your hand. Holographic, glitter, and chrome change with every tilt, and a screen catches one moment of it. On those materials, the proof we email moves with your mouse to simulate the effect. See holographic, glitter, or chrome.
