Manufacturing and asset tags: common questions

Unique barcodes on every tag, surfaces that resist adhesive, rolls for applicators, and tear-off portions for paperwork.

Can you print asset tags with a unique barcode on each one?

Yes. That's variable data printing: every tag carries the same design with its own barcode, serial number, or asset number, printed in one run. Our prices are for print-ready artwork, so adding barcodes, QR codes, or numbering is an artwork change. We can help: reach out for a quote. See asset tags with unique barcodes.

Will a scanner read the barcodes reliably?

Yes, if the code has room. A scanner needs clear space on either side of a barcode, and crowding it with artwork is the most common reason a code won't read. Scan the codes on your proof before you commit to a long run.

Will they stay on machinery, drums, and powder-coated surfaces?

Yes, on High-Tack Stickers. Standard vinyl peels off cleanly and suits most things, but rough, textured, powder-coated, and low-energy plastic surfaces need the stronger adhesive. High-Tack is harder to remove and can leave residue.

Will they survive a factory floor?

The laminate resists water, sun, and scratches. The print holds 3 to 5 years outdoors before it starts to fade, and considerably longer indoors. A pressure washer aimed at an edge will lift any sticker, so place them where the spray won't catch a corner.

Can we get labels on a roll for an applicator?

Yes, with Custom Roll Labels. Every roll is wound on a 3" core, so check that your applicator takes one, and send us the unwind direction its manual shows before you order. The applicator checklist lists the rest. A roll also keeps numbered labels in order.

Can a label have a tear-off portion for paperwork?

Yes. We add a perforation on request, so ask us before you order, and we'll quote it. A two-part label has one half that goes on the paperwork and one that stays on the item, so design both halves to stand alone, with type well clear of the tear line. Tear-off labels for paperwork covers the layout.

What is the minimum, and how fast?

25 of a design on stickers, and 100 of each design on roll labels. Stickers ship 3 to 5 business days after you approve the proof, and roll labels 5 to 7. Rush is available for a fee, and an exact reorder of approved artwork skips the proof round.
