Garage door stickers: springs, openers, and callbacks

Service stickers that hold in a garage, stay readable for years, and put your number where a homeowner will look.

Put a garage door service sticker where a homeowner looks when the door won't open, make the phone number the biggest thing on it, and use High-Tack vinyl on a textured opener housing. Quick answers are on our garage door page, and the templates are in our garage door stickers.

Put it where they will look

A garage door sticker has one job: to be read when something goes wrong. So it belongs where someone stands when the door won't open: on the opener housing, on the wall control, or on the door at eye height.

A sticker on top of the motor unit is out of sight and does nothing. Placement matters more here than the print.

Surfaces in a garage

Opener housings are textured plastic, which standard vinyl struggles to grip. High-Tack vinyl is the same print with a much stronger adhesive, and it's the right choice for a housing.

The door itself is usually painted steel, which takes standard vinyl well once it's wiped clean. Garages are dusty, so wipe first.

Cold matters here

Unheated garages get cold, and adhesive needs to flow to bond. Apply to a surface at room temperature where you can, press firmly, and leave the sticker a day or two before anything stresses it. Applying stickers in cold weather has more.

Make the phone number the biggest thing

It's tempting to lead with the logo. The homeowner who needs you is looking for a number, in a dim garage, maybe without their glasses. Size the number for that, and fit the branding around it.

Dark on light reads better than light on dark in poor light, and it fades more slowly, because bright colors fade first.

Fields you write in

If technicians write the service date, choose matte. On vinyl stickers, matte takes a ballpoint pen as well as a permanent marker, while gloss takes a marker but a pen only to a degree. On roll labels, write on matte only: writing on a gloss roll label scratches off with a fingernail. Give the field real room.

How long it lasts

Ultraviolet light is what fades print, and there's very little of it inside a garage. A sticker inside lasts considerably longer than the 3 to 5 years we quote for full outdoor sun.

Ordering

The minimum is 50 of a design on vinyl, or 100 on High-Tack vinyl or on a roll. Production takes 4 business days after you approve the proof, on vinyl or on a roll, and Rush is available for a fee. Nothing prints until you approve the proof, and an exact reorder of approved artwork skips the proof round.
