Usually your bank declined the payment, or the billing address or ZIP code you entered doesn't match the one your card company has on file. Check the details and try once more. If it still fails, call your bank or pay another way.
Check the details first
- The billing address and ZIP code: these must match your card statement exactly. This catches a lot of people who have moved recently.
- The card number, expiration date, and security code: check each one for a typo.
- The billing address, not the shipping address: you can ship somewhere else, but the billing address is wherever your card company sends your statement.
When the bank says no
A decline comes from your bank, not from us. We can't override a decline, but your bank can. The common causes:
- A fraud check. A first purchase from a new shop, an unusual amount, or several tries in a row can trip one. Many banks send a text or app alert asking whether it was you. Confirm it, then try again.
- A limit. A credit limit, or a daily spending limit on a debit card, can stop the payment. A pending hold from another purchase counts against what's available.
- A block on online purchases. Some prepaid and company cards are blocked for online purchases.
Call the number on the back of your card, and your bank can tell you which one it is.
Try another way to pay
We take credit and debit cards, Shop Pay, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. A wallet pays with a card saved in it, so if that card is the one being declined, switch cards rather than wallets.
If the payment form won't load at all, try another browser, or turn off an ad blocker or privacy extension for the checkout page.
Before you try again
Check your email for an order confirmation first. If one arrived, your order went through, and trying again places a second order.
Checkout places a hold on your card. The charge is taken when your order is approved for production, which is usually when you approve your proof. A pending hold isn't a second charge. See how you can pay.
Still stuck
