Will the label survive a fridge, a freezer, or an oily jar?
Yes, on White Plastic BOPP. BOPP is a plastic film made for product packaging. It stands up to moisture, oil, and handling in a way paper can't, so it suits anything that lives in a kitchen, a fridge, or a cooler. Paper suits dry goods and shipping seals. Both materials are on Custom Roll Labels, and food label materials explains the choice.
Can I write a batch or best-by date on the label?
Yes, if you choose the right finish:
- On roll labels, choose matte, and write with a pen or Sharpie. You can write on a gloss roll label, but it scratches off with a fingernail. Unlaminated paper takes pen.
- On vinyl sheet labels, the sticker rule applies: gloss takes a Sharpie, and matte takes ballpoint as well.
You can also have the dates printed as variable data, so nobody writes them by hand. That's an artwork change, quoted on request. More in writing on stickers and labels.
Is there room for an ingredient list?
Yes, if you choose the shape for it. Squares and rectangles give the most room for ingredients and required text. Circles suit jar lids. Keep text at 6 pt or larger, or 8 pt for thin (light or script) fonts. Your proof shows whether anything is too small at the size you ordered. Dates, ingredients, and writing on food labels has more on fitting it in.
How many labels do I have to order?
25 of a design on sheet labels, and 100 of each design on roll labels. The price per label drops steeply as the quantity grows. The calculator on the product page shows the exact price before you add anything to your cart, so you can compare quantities.
Sheet labels or roll labels?
Sheet labels suit small batches applied by hand. Roll labels suit larger runs, an applicator, or labels you want kept in order. If you're between the two, tell us your run size and how you apply them, and we'll tell you which costs less. Sheet labels or roll labels compares them.
Can I get a clear label so the jar shows through?
Yes, with Clear Sheet Labels. On clear film, whatever is behind the label becomes part of the design. The choice to make is where white ink goes. Without white behind them, colors are see-through, like stained glass. With white, they read solid. Leaving the white out behind the background is what makes a label look printed onto the glass.
How quickly can I get them?
Sheet labels ship 3 to 5 business days after you approve the proof, and roll labels 5 to 7. Rush is available for a fee, and an exact reorder of approved artwork skips the proof round.
